Hello all,
On the drive to the Las Conchas Trailhead on Sat, June 13 there was a lightening and thunder storm that seemed to follow us to the canyon along the East Fork of the Jemez River. We went on to the trail for a short distance but then we had to take shelter beneath a rock wall as the lightening and thunder were close and it was raining hard. We were a group of 6: Pam Bliss, her daughter Caroline, Diana & Bob Hayes, Manuel Lopez and Kathleen Rhoad.
We went to the Ridgeback Cafe in La Cueva for coffee and small bowls of beans w/ green chili. Good, memorable day. Everyone wants to go again.
As usual the scenery along the drive was captivating. It was Diana and Bob’s first visit to the Jemez.
There were some dramatic skies on the drive back to Abq included in the photos.
Check out the trail description here.
